A series on Anxiety Part 1: Anxiety is a gift?

Anxiety gets a bad reputation...  Research shows that anxiety fills our system with chemical reactions that cause unfavorable responses in our bodies and brains. It shuts down our ability to think expansively, see solutions, and respond in love.  It raises our blood pressure and heart rate, reduces our oxygen consumption, creates physical dis-ease in the body, and more. When anxiety is experienced in this way it is a BLOCKER. It keeps us from moving forward, causing us to feel stuck, overwhelmed, or to retreat from the source of the anxiety.

What if we saw anxiety as a signal?  

The positive intention of anxiety is to alert us of danger, to protect us, stemming from our fear of being harmed in any way. It is a call for attention to a situation/event/circumstance.  So rather than dread anxiety or push it away, the first step in finding freedom from anxiety as a blocker is to accept it!  Acknowledge that it is there, and ask what it is trying to show you. All of our emotions have a function, with a positive intention behind them.  Our fears reveal to us what we want the most!

Anxiety becomes a gift when you can use it as a PROPELLER!  Anxiety is ENERGY, negative energy if it is not acknowledged and redirected, and positive energy when we acknowledge and release it in the direction of its positive intention.  It can help us to meet deadlines, make important changes or decisions, and lay solid plans of action when it is acknowledged and reponspoded to. 

Step 1 to Freedom: Acknowledge the anxiety that you feel, name it, and ask what the positive intention is.  You can then turn anxiety into a Propeller instead of a Blocker!
